While the original studio behind Left 4 Dead are making an informal follow up in Back 4 Blood, one of the Valve writers who provided L4D its character is making a brand-new cooperative monster-mashing shooter too. Stray Bombay, the studio co-founded by previous Valve author Chet Faliszek and former Riot designer Dr. Kimberly Voll, today revealed The Anacrusis. It’s a four-player FPS set aboard a giant stranded spaceship, and you can see a bit in the trailer listed below.
Monster hordes look a bit ropey but hey, I’m feeling confident. I do like that spaceship’s decoration.
So there you are, in an awful location with your friends, pitted versus a horde of monsters. An AI drector is managing the action, generating managers, opponents, and products to challenge you. Which is a description of The Anacrusis that applies to Left 4 Dead simply as much. Looks like it’s quite doing that sort of thing, y’ understand. Only this time it’s a horrible giant spaceship filled with awful space monsters, and you’ve got weapons like area guns and tension grenades.
Seems like they’re doing a great deal of work to assist you play with friends. Along with supporting cross-platform multiplayer, The Anacrusis will let players share opens too. That’s really nice.
They also keep in mind that mod assistance is prepared, with the video game due to launch with “a selection of mods produced by neighborhood members.”
The Anacrusis is because of release this fall on Steam and the Epic Games Store, along with Xboxes.
Our Alice Bee talked with Chet and Kimberley back in 2019, who at that time were vague about what they were making but did go over the ideas behind their work.
