Yesterday, Nintendo revealed a brand new Zelda & & Loftwing amiibo for its upcoming release, Skyward Sword HD. It enables Link to now quick travel from the land to the sky (or vice versa) in any place, and even make a quick exit out of buildings and dungeons anytime.
One significant talking point seems to be the reality this figure is essentially locking off what could have possibly been a simple (and totally free) quality of life upgrade to the existing however restricted fast travel system within the video game. So will gamers really have to fork out for Link’s improved teleportation capability?
VICE and Waypoint press reporter, Patrick Klepek, has connected to Nintendo searching for a more definitive response about whether “fast travel” would be accessible without an amiibo, and regretfully got redirected to the exact same site including the new amiibo. Interpret this how you will, however it’s not looking great for anyone who does not intend on getting this new figure.
“I asked Nintendo if the fast travel in Skyward Sword HD that’s ludicrously opened by purchasing an amiibo is at all available without an amiibo– through a menu or other ways– and Nintendo PR pointed me towards the website for the amiibo. So take that as you will.”
If this wasn’t already enough, it’s also been confirmed the Zelda & & Loftwing amiibo (launching the same day as the game) will cost more than a routine amiibo – being available in at $24.99 USD (or your local equivalent). Ouch!
Will you be handing over for Link’s improved quick travel in Skyward Sword HD? How are you feeling about all of this? Leave a remark down below.
