No evidence linking tech with increased mental health problems in teenagers, says study – The Times

Social media is no more damaging to teens’ psychological health than television was for young people in the 1990s, scientists at Oxford University have found.A research study took a look at more than 430,000 people aged ten to 15 in the UK and United States using information gathered between 1991 and 2017. It found no proof that any link in between mental health issue and technology grew more powerful over that period. The research by the Oxford Internet Institute took a look at TV watching, social networks usage and making use of digital gadgets such as smartphones

before comparing them with feelings of depression, suicidal propensities and behavioural problems. It intended to examine growing concerns that technology is becoming both more prevalent in youths’s lives and more damaging to their mental health.
