May security patch rolling out to Google Pixel, factory images & OTAs live – 9to5Google

There are 13 issues solved in the May security spot dated 2021-05-01 and 29 for 2021-05-05. Vulnerabilities vary from high to crucial, with the most severe relating to the media structure and a remote attacker potentially executing approximate code through a crafted file.

In the last Android Security & & Privacy Year in Review, Google notes that “no vital security vulnerabilities affecting the Android platform were openly revealed without a security upgrade or mitigation readily available for Android devices.” Furthermore, there was an 84% year-over-year dive in security patches during Q4 2018 compared to the prior year.

There are no carrier-specific builds this month. The dedicated publicationfor Google deviceslists 7 security fixes and no practical updates, however there’s a trio of brand-new wallpapers readily available.

Ahead of the very first Android 12 Beta later on this month, Google is presenting the May security spot to address bugs on the Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5.
