Google Docs and Sheets are experiencing partial outages – The Verge

Multiple Google services experienced a partial blackout on Monday, with some users not able to produce brand-new documents in Google Docs and Google Sheets. Google’s Workspace Status Dashboard reported that Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Classroom all skilled service disruptions. As of 11:26 AM ET Google said that service had been restored for “some users” adding that “we anticipate a resolution for all users in the near future.”

As of 12PM ET, we’ve verified that the issues we were experiencing seem fixed.

“On April 12, since 9:20 Pacific Time, we resolved a problem with producing brand-new and copying existing Google Docs, Slides and Sheets within Google Workspace and Google Workspace for Education accounts,” a Google representative stated in a declaration to The Verge. “More details can be discovered on the Workspace Status Dashboard.”

While the problems were ongoing, attempting to create a brand-new document in Google Docs triggered the following error message to appear:

The problem was acknowledged by Google in a support message posted at 9:36 AM ET. “The affected users have the ability to access Google Drive, however are seeing mistake messages, high latency, and/or other unforeseen habits,” the upgrade said, “Affected user are unable to create new files.”
