Spelunky 2 blasts off to the Moon to check out more levels of ruins and caverns, down and down through various biomes with strange wildlife and complete stranger secrets. It’s a roguelike sorta thing, with procedurally-generated levels and all sorts of tricks and surprising interactions in between systems to discover, learn, and eventually utilize to your advantage. And great deals of deaths that make you begin a new run, obvs.

As our Graham has discussed before, the process of discovery is a delight. Now here comes the follow up with great deals of familiar opponents and products, sure, but plenty new too. How might brand-new traps, opponents, and items engage? Which tricks might it be concealing? Don’t inform me, I want to learn for myself.

If you do wish to know a little more about it, I recommend Christian Donlan’s Spelunky 2 review on Eurogamer, which has some great Donlan-y words. I indicate, it did up till the point I stopped checking out due to the fact that I do not wish to know. Or hell, go wild and enjoy people playing on Twitch. I think Graham’s penetrating the Moon for our review too.

Spelunky 2 is due on Steam September 29th. It’s out on PlayStation 4 now, boooooo.

Hip hip hooray, Spelunky 2 is out today! On PlayStation 4. Not on PC. We won’t get it on PC for another fortnight. But … this does mean you can now check out reviews of the dungeon-diving platformer and watch other people play and all that, if you don’t mind first seeing its surprises through somebody else’s eyes. Myself, I read the start of one evaluation, enough to sustain my excitement, and will now avoid my eyes up until the 29th.
